History
At CREATE, the History curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and foster a profound understanding of the past. The primary focus is to help our young children develop a sense of time, place, and change. The curriculum begins with an exploration of 'Changes within Living Memory', enabling pupils to grasp the transformations that have occurred within their community.

Students learn about the lives of significant individuals, with particular emphasis on figures such as David Attenborough and Mary Anning. This study is complemented by exploring additional prominent personalities, including Neil Armstrong, Mae Jemison, and Tim Peake, thereby enhancing their understanding of legacy and historical context.

In addition to notable individuals, pupils engage with local history, examining significant events, people, and places to construct a narrative of the past that is relevant to our own locality. They also study events beyond their own living memory, such as the Great Fire of London, to deepen their understanding of chronology.

The CUSP educational approach at CREATE encourages pupils to revisit prior learning and connect it with broader historical studies. Ultimately, the curriculum aims to empower students to become inquisitive learners, able to ask pertinent historical questions while drawing on knowledge to inform their understanding of history's impact on their lives and communities.
